There is a private courtyard within the motel complex where you can just relax or chat with other guests. And here’s a little history; it got its name from the remains of a ship

"The Lizzie H. Brayton". A 201 foot, 979 ton, four masted schooner

with a cargo of coal. The ship wrecked off the coast in 1904, directly

in front of where the motel is situated. Because of all the driftwood

that used to be found on the beach from the wreck, the motel was

named the Driftwood. In fact you can still see the wreck about 160

yards off the beach and still find some of the coal that she was carrying.
